Services:

I provide professional labor support in King, Pierce, and Thurston Counties.  My motto is "Experience the Softer Side of Hard Labor" and I deliver this experience to the best of my ability by keeping the mom an active participant in her care, assisting her in labor management with comfort techniques as well as productive activity and positioning for labor progress, and giving her a hand to hold, shoulder to cry on, and a witness to her amazing journey into motherhood.

My service as a birth doula starts with pregnant moms prenataly educating them about birth and their options.  I am oncall for them 24 hours a day from 37-42 weeks.  I am present with the birth team from labors start until up to 3 hours after the babies delivery.  I also provide a postpartum visit with breastfeeding support.

Along with being a doula, I am also a photographer specializing in pregnancy, birth and newborn portraiture.  I have special packages available for my doula clients.

Qualifications:

Birth Doula since 1996, receiving training through Bates Technical College in Tacoma Washington, where I became certified through Tacoma Labor Companions as well as DONA (Doulas of North America)  I attend conferences in the childbirth field to keep current on the latest trends and techniques for helping laboring women.  For 8 yrs . I have assisted in teaching a Childbirth Prep classes.  I have also supported over 150 laboring moms as their doula in a variety of settings and circumstances, such as vbac's, waterbirth, planned cesareans, twin deliveries, medicated as well as non-medicated vaginal deliveries.  I have assisted in homes, hospitals, and birth centers.

Personal notes:

I am 32 years old, and married to my high school sweetheart.  Together we have 3 children ages 12, 8, and 2.  I have experienced non-medicated births with all 3 children with two born in hospitals and my youngest born at home with my family, midwife and doula partner by my side.  I delivered my daughter in a birthing pool and it was Amazing! 

I love what I do, there is no better "job" out there for me as this is my passion.  I love to help, I love making a difference, and really you just cannot have a bad day or even week after you have witnessed a baby take their first breath and watching the parents fall madly in love.
