Personal notes: I believe that, in most situations, unmedicated birth free of unnecessary
intervention is best for both mom and baby. I also believe in a woman's
right to choose the birth that is best for her. It is my responsibility
as a doula and an educator to help women gain the knowledge they need to make informed choices regarding their births, and then to provide them with
the emotional support and encouragement they need to achieve the births that is safest and most satisfying for each indevidual.
I have two children of my own. My eldest child was born via cesarean
section after a highly interventive planed hospital birth. My youngest was born at home with the assistance of midwives and the invaluable support of a doula.
